Area 13 Privacy Notice

The short version

• Area 13 collects no personal information. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, cookies, or tracking.
• Your puzzle progress, stats, and settings stay on your own device. They are never sent to us.
• If you choose to use Game Center on iPhone or iPad, your scores go to Apple, not to us.

1. What this notice covers

Area 13 is a collection of daily puzzle games made by 13Beacons, LLC, a California limited liability company based in Yucaipa, California. It is available as Area 13 for iPhone and iPad and on the web at area13.app. This notice covers both. It adds to our company Privacy Policy; where they differ, this notice controls for Area 13.

2. What we collect

Nothing. 13Beacons does not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal information through Area 13. Area 13 has no account system, no advertising, no analytics or crash-reporting services, and no third-party code that tracks you.

3. What stays on your device

To remember your games, Area 13 saves your puzzle progress, statistics, and settings only on your own device: inside the app on iPhone and iPad, or in your browser's local storage when you play at area13.app. This information never leaves your device and we cannot see it.

• Deleting the app, or clearing area13.app's site data in your browser, erases it.
• On iPhone and iPad, your device's own backups (such as iCloud Backup) may include it, under your backup settings and Apple's privacy policy.
• Progress is not synced between devices or between the app and the website.

4. Leaderboards (optional)

If you are already signed in to Apple's Game Center on your device, Area 13 sends your best streak, total wins, and achievement progress to Game Center so they appear on leaderboards and in your achievements. Other Game Center players can see your Game Center nickname and leaderboard scores. This data goes to Apple, not to 13Beacons, and is handled under Apple's privacy policy. If you are not signed in to Game Center, nothing is sent. You can sign out at any time in your device's Settings.

5. New puzzle alerts (optional)

If you turn on new puzzle alerts, the reminders are scheduled on your device. No notification server is involved and nothing is sent to us. You can turn them off in Area 13's settings or in your device's Settings.

6. Sharing your results

When you tap Share, you choose where your result goes, using your device's share sheet. The shared text contains your puzzle number and a grid of colored squares or your solve time (for Redacted, also how many hints you used). It contains no personal information, and it goes only where you send it.

7. The area13.app website

area13.app is served by Google Firebase Hosting. Like any web host, Google processes basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure, and keeps these server logs for a limited time. The site sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising, or third-party fonts or scripts; its fonts and files are served from area13.app itself.

8. Children

Area 13 is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Your rights

Because Area 13 sends us no personal information, there is nothing about you for us to access, correct, or delete; the data on your device is under your control. Your rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act and the GDPR are described in our company Privacy Policy, and you can contact us with any request.

10. Do Not Track

Area 13 does not track you over time or across other apps and websites, so it treats every visit the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

11. Changes

If we change this notice, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your privacy, we will also say so in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
