Area 13
Daily puzzles from restricted airspace: Night Signal, a five-letter word puzzle; Flight Path, a path puzzle; Crop Circles, a logic puzzle; and Redacted, a daily word search. Play Area 13 for iPhone and iPad, or play free in your browser at area13.app.
When do new puzzles arrive?
Every day at midnight Pacific time, the same puzzles for everyone. Area 13 works offline, so you can play anywhere once the app is installed or the site has loaded.
Why did my streak end?
A streak counts consecutive days. In Night Signal, a missed day or a loss ends it; in Flight Path, Crop Circles and Redacted, a missed day ends it. Puzzles follow the real date, so changing your device's clock will not bring back a missed day.
Where is my progress saved? Can I move it to a new device?
Your progress and stats are saved only on your device; we never see them. On iPhone and iPad, they move to a new device when you restore it from a backup of your old one. On the web, they are saved in that browser only. Progress is not shared between the app and the website.
How do I reset or delete my data?
Delete the Area 13 app, or clear area13.app's site data in your browser. Because nothing is stored on our side, that removes everything.
How do leaderboards work?
If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone or iPad, Area 13 adds your Night Signal best streak, wins, and achievements automatically. There is nothing to sign up for. To stop, sign out of Game Center in your device's Settings.
Where are the hints?
Crop Circles and Redacted have optional hints, off until you want them. Open Area 13, tap the settings button on the home screen, and switch on Crop Circles hints or Redacted hints.
How do I turn new puzzle alerts on or off?
Open Area 13, tap the settings button on the home screen, and switch New puzzle alerts on or off. You can pick the time the alert arrives.
Accessibility
Area 13 supports VoiceOver, larger text, Bold Text, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion, and Differentiate Without Color, and Flight Path and Crop Circles can be played with VoiceOver actions or a hardware keyboard.
